Music Schedule Elements
Each Class involves several elements of music. In an effort to accomplish all of the music concepts throughout the school year, the elements will be built upon one another, like scaffolding, so that by the end of the school year, students will have been exposed to all skills needed to create music.
This structure and order of music class is repeated throughout the school year so that students will follow and eventually lead this time.
- To begin each lesson, we sing greeting songs and get warmed up to start music class.
- Next, we work on upper body movements with familiar nursery rhymes. This is meant to reinforce musical concepts and get the students engaged and excited about participating in music class.
- Children will learn music lesson for the day. Lessons include: Learning basic musical concepts, learning the chapel song and movements for the month, OA classroom curriculum support songs and themes, and using instruments to make music.
- After the lesson of the day, children will actively participate in full body movement with fun songs.
- Our closing time involves a time of calming down, reflecting on concepts learned in the lesson, compliments, and encouragement. All students receive a special stamp for participation.
